Health Care System

I was reminded yet again of the issues of our health care system. Our health care works perfectly if nothing is wrong with you, but the moment you get sick, God help you. Last year my dad was visiting and we took him to D.C. He accidentally tripped outside one of the museums and we had to get some stitches done on his forehead. We had to catch our flight back home in 4 hours so we went to ER. Even though he had insurance, the hospitals charged us an arm and leg. We are still paying for that. Can you believe, for just getting 6 stitches on his forehead and nothing else, I had to pay over $2000 bucks on top of what the insurance had covered. For an hour in the hospital they charged us over fifteen hundred bucks. Isn't something terribly wrong in this picture.

Last week my son got accidentally burned on his shoulder while taking steam for his congestion. I took him to his doctor's office immediately. The doctor told the nurse to bandage him. She was gentle, applied the medicine then instead of putting the nonstick bandage started wrapping it up with gauze. If you don't keep on top of things and question, it is you who is going to suffer. Can you imagine the pain and pealing of the skin that could have happened if I had let her do it. She refused to listen to me and then I had to put my foot down and tell her that she needs to put a nonstick pad before she covers it up. Finally we got that resolved. Next day we came for a followup and the doctor didn't seem sure enough of what to do. She told us to go to the plastic surgeon. Not knowing any better we got the referral and an appointment and went there. Going to a plastic surgeon's office is a living nightmare. We waited for 3 hours before the doctor finally came in. He never touched my son or really looked at the burn. He didn't even spend 5 minutes with us, but did not forget to ask us to come back in 2 weeks since he was going on vacation the following week. I just laughed at his face and looked at him with a look of disbelief. I even told him that I am not willing to wait another 3 hours next week for this. He then told me to come in the mornings and he would be able to see me right away. I wonder what right away means in doctor's terms - 2 hours?

Well luckily this week my son is healing and feeling much better. I am definitely not going to put my son through the plastic surgery nightmare when I know for sure that his burn will heal soon. I know if I go there, they will come up with something to do and probably ask us to make another appointment just for that 5 minute checkup.

Custom Unique Bracelets

Working and taking care of two children take all of my energy and time away. I finally decided to do something for myself. Something that I have always wanted to do but never got the opportunity or courage.

I am very good at creating things, it could be jewelry, art, or faux painting. We had gone to Alaska and I saw some beautiful paintings by local artists there. They were very expensive, so I decided to paint my own. It turned out amazing and I gifted it to my good friend on her birthday.

The other day I saw my neighbor wearing a name bracelet. I loved and and decided to make myself one with my own design. It turned out unique and my very own creation. After a lot of encouragement from my friends, I finally decided to put up my own site. I called it " Strings Of Style". As it's name, it truly is all about style. I create beautiful, unique jewelry and customize it with name, birthstones and semi precious gemstones.

I made this bracelet with 3 strands. The first strand has turquoise, pearls and diamond swarovski crystals representing a boy born in April. The centre strand has gorgeous tourmaline, jade and diamond swarovski crystals for the mother. The third strand has moonstone, pink quartz, and garnets representing a girl born in January. Since the stones have so much character and meaning to them it makes this bracelet all the more special.

The other bracelet I created is a single strand which shows simplicity and elegance in design. My client did not want any stones or crystals in her bracelet, so I created this gorgeous bracelet with Bali and Silver beads.

I have been creating several other bracelets, all personalized and with special meaning to my customers.

I am so happy that finally I found a way to be creative and be myself.
